1. Methodology

Our process is based on a rigorous three-step protocol:

  1. Data recovery : We get a list of domains from our e-commerce data provider, including new weekly creations.
  2. Testing server responses : We check the availability of sites by analyzing HTTP response codes to identify really active stores.
  3. Analysis of legal notices : We review the legal information of the sites identified in order to confirm their presence on the French market and guarantee the reliability of the data collected.

2. Global vision

a. Distribution of stores by country

From the first weeks of follow-up, we see a significant volume of new online stores. Globally, thousands of new creations are registered every week, illustrating the vitality of the e-commerce sector.

Over the period from 2 February to 25 February, 102,612 domains have been scanned, allowing to obtain an overview. Among these domains, 28% of the domains are 29,871 Have legal notices indicating a precise location of the company.

3. Focus on France

In France, the market is following a similar trend, although on a smaller scale. Among all the areas analyzed, 2,390 creations have been identified in France, representing 8.00% shops with a specific country.

4. A Bi-weekly Update

This trend monitoring will be updated every 2 weeks in order to observe developments, possible peaks of activity and the impact of various events (seasonality, promotions, etc.).

If these trends continue, 2025 could prove to be a pivotal year for online commerce, marked by an explosion of new stores and a diversification of the platforms used.
