1. Methodology

Our process is based on a rigorous three-step protocol:

  1. Data retrieval: We obtain the list of domains from our e-commerce data provider, including new weekly creations.
  2. Server response testing: We verify site availability by analyzing HTTP response codes to identify truly active stores.
  3. Legal information analysis: We review the legal information on identified sites in order to confirm their presence in the French market and ensure the reliability of collected data.

2. Global Overview

a. Distribution of stores by country

From the first weeks of tracking, we observe significant volume of new online stores. On a global scale, thousands of new creations are recorded each week, illustrating the vitality of the e-commerce sector.

Over the period from February 2 to February 25, 102,612 domains were scanned, providing a comprehensive overview. Among these domains, 28% of domains, or 29,871, have legal mentions indicating precise business localization.
